Differences between rheumatoid arthritis(RA) and osteoarthritis(OA)

  1. .O.A. is a degenerative disorder, mainly affecting the elderly.   R.A. is not degenerative, but is an autoimmune disorder.(autoimmune is a condition where body produces antibodies against its own healthy cells)
  2. OA affects weight bearing joints like knee joints and low back.R.A.affects smaller joints such as joints of the fingers, wrists etc.
  3. Pain in OA gets subsided on oil application where as pain gets aggravated on oil application in RA
